Globally, professional coaching is a self-regulated industry.

It is thus critical to rely on oversight by reputable professional bodies, both local and international. University of Stellenbosch Business School

Stellenbosch Business School holds the triple crown of international accreditations, which are full-term accreditations (five years) from the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA), reserved for the top one percent of business schools worldwide.

The Master's Degree is accredited with EMCC’s Global Quality Award (EQA) at Master Practitioner Level. The Belgium-based EMCC sets industry standards for mentoring, coaching and supervision globally.

The degree is also internationally accredited by EQUIS as well as by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (Comensa) has approved the programme as a Comensa Gold Training Provider Programme in line with Comensa’s code of ethics and conduct, and behavioural standards for coaching.

Since 2006, COMENSA has championed ethical excellence, quality assurance, and the continuous development of coaching and mentoring in South Africa—recognised by SAQA for our role in safeguarding professional standards. We honour African heritage while aligning to international best practice, empowering practitioners, organisations, and communities to flourish.

Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA) was founded in 2005 as a non-profit company (NPC) with the mission to build an inclusive, credible, and professional environment for coaches and mentors to thrive in South Africa. The organisation’s establishment was spearheaded by Dr Sunny Stout-Rostron, the Founding President of COMENSA, whose vision was to create a self-regulating professional body that promotes ethical practice, quality standards, and the professionalisation of coaching and mentoring in the country. Although often cited as being formally established in 2006, COMENSA’s roots and leadership can be traced to Dr Stout-Rostron’s pioneering work in 2005, which laid the foundation for a unified and ethical coaching profession in South Africa.
